How to Lay Carpet Tiles

Carpet tiles are the alternative of the wall-to-wall carpets and now days have become highly crowd-pleasing. The installation of carpet tiles is very easy. You do not have to hire professionals in order to install them or remove them. If in case they get any stain or spill they can be easily taken out and cleaned or washed. Besides that if any carpet tile get depleted you can always replace it with the other carpet tile of the same kind. Carpet tiles are also very entertaining because you can put tiles of different colors and patterns at the same place and it would look splendid. Although carpet tiles are quite expensive, but it would be worth if you invest money once on them because they last long. To lay carpet tiles you need to pursue the following steps:

Make sure that the floor on which you are going to install the carpet tiles is thoroughly cleaned, free of wax, leveled and dry. Do not lay carpet tiles on any existing old carpet. If you are lying carpet tiles on concrete then use the special instructions that are given with the tiles.

To lay your carpet tiles appropriately on the floor, you need to find the centre of the floor. Use chalk to make lines diagonally and join the midpoints of the opposite walls on the floor. Then start the laying from the center point.

Place the carpet tiles one by one next to each other. Make sure that the tiles are fitted tightly together. Then stand near the room entrance and see if the tiles need adjusting. Once you are satisfied with the look, use the adhesive dots or stickers which come with the carpet tiles to attach them together firmly with each other.

The stickers are used to join together four tiles at a time with the sticking side up, so that the tile can be easily pulled out whenever needed. The sticker bond gets stronger as the time passes.

For the edges or small holes of the room you will have to cut down the tiles into different shapes so that they can fit nicely. Keeping the same pattern of the tile (for which the arrows are given on the back of tiles), first mark the lines on the back of the tiles carefully and then cut them out using a sharp knife and a scale and take precautions to cut safely.
